Your donation to the Hear for Less Deaf Children Australia Tough Mudder team will help enable Deaf Children Australia to run a family camp for deaf and hard of hearing children and their families.

Most deaf children are in mainstream schools and often, they are the only student in their school with a hearing loss. The camps are one of the few opportunities where the students get together, meet each other – and realise they’re not the only deaf person in the world. It is also important for the children and their families to discover that they are not alone in the challenges that they face. This discovery weekend will form bonds that will allow them to share their current and future experiences with each other well after the activities have concluded.
The camp would be filled with adventure, excitement and lots of fun activities.

The benefits of the camp include:
*       Providing a deaf friendly environment where every child can feel “It’s ok to be deaf”
*       Opportunities to share, learn, question and grow
*       Networking for parents and a chance to discuss the different paths and decisions families make

The camp will enable the children to create a support network to enhance their communication skills and sense of identity, and increase their self-esteem. This in turn can lead to greater participation in family and community life.

If we make our fundraising target, the outcome will be deaf and hard of hearing children and their families that are better informed, feel connected and less isolated. Please help us reach our goal!

Tough Mudder is possibly the toughest event on the Planet.

Hear for Less CEO & Founder Robert Henry is leading a growing number of participants in Tough Mudder, Saturday 17th October 2015 in Melbourne, to raise much needed funds for Deaf Children Australia (DCA).

For this event our goal is to raise $1,000.00. There are other events that have been entered in to which will help us all to reach our overall major goal of $10,000.00.

Your commitment is to help raise funds for this charity and you will earn the glory and pride of completing Tough Mudder. All funds raised will help enable Deaf Children Australia to run a family camp for deaf and hard of hearing children and their families.

What is Tough Mudder?

Tough Mudder is an event is put together by UK special forces, to test your fears and limits. 18 – 20 kms of running and obstacles which include fire, ice water, heights, claustrophobia, mud – lots of mud and electric shocks to name but a few.

This isn’t a race. Tough Mudder puts camaraderie over finisher rankings and is not a timed race but a team challenge that allows participants to experience exhilarating, yet safe, world-class obstacles they won’t find anywhere else.
